Markets opened higher
The markets opened higher today on the back of positive cues from the Asian markets. However suddenly the market lost momentum and slipped off from the early highs as profit booking emerged at higher level after a sharp rally in the previous session. The Realty and Consumer Durables index are witnessing significant buying interest in the opening trade and have outperformed all the sectorial indices trading with gains of more than 1% each. The broader market indices also edged higher in the opening trade with both the BSE Midcap and the BSE Small Cap index are trading with gains of more than 0.5% each. The BSE Sensex is now trading above the 17,200 mark and the NSE Nifty above the 5,100 mark in the early trade.
At 10.31 IST, the BSE Sensex is trading slightly lower by 2.82 points or (0.02%) at 17,228.29 and the NSE Nifty is trading marginally lower by 2.75 points or (0.05%) at 5,141.85.
The BSE Mid Cap is trading higher by 32.21 points or (0.49%) at 6,625.88 and the BSE Small Cap is trading up by 26.51 points or (0.33%) to 8,098.60.
DLF reported the top gainer from the BSE Sensex pack, as it is now trading higher by (1.49%) at Rs. 371.35, while NTPC reported the top loser trading down by (1.61%) at Rs. 226.20.
The Overall market breadth is positive as 1237 stocks are advancing while 673 stocks are declining and the 85 stocks remained unchanged on BSE.
The Asian markets are trading higher today with Nikkei 225 and South Korea’s Kospi index trading up above (1%) respectively.
US stock market closed flat on Wednesday, on mixed data. Disappointing new home sales lead to a decline on Wall Street that restrained optimism about the economic recovery. However, a weaker dollar helped stocks regain strength and drove back into the green. However the S&P 500 reported a small gain to close at a 14-month high and the Nasdaq ended at a 15-month high after solid earnings from technology companies. The sales of newly built U.S. single-family homes fell to a seven-month low in November. Meanwhile, personal income and spending increased marginally less than expected in November, whereas core personal income remained flat. The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) reported slight gain of 1.51 points at 10,466.44. Going ahead, NASDAQ index ended higher by 16.97 points to 2,269.64. The S&P 500 (SPX) closed marginally up by 2.57 points at 1,120.59.
BSE REALTY indexwas at 3,868.93 up by 45.65 points or by (1.19%) The main gainers were Orbit Corp up by (2.1%) at Rs.292, Dlf up by (1.31%) at Rs.370.7, Hdil up by (1.28%) at Rs.364.2, Unitech up by (0.98%) at Rs.82.7, Ackruti City up by (0.82%) at Rs.564.
BSE CD index was at 3,659.15 up by 42.38 points or by (1.17%) The main gainers were Titan Inds up by (3.1%) at Rs.1417, Gitanjali Gems up by (0.83%) at Rs.121.7, Rajesh Exports up by (0.23%) at Rs.88.
