IMF cautious about global economic recovery
The International Monetary Fund Managing Director, Dominique Strauss-Kahn stated that the recovery will be slow and that a jobless revival remains a risk since the global economy shows to be emerging from the worst financial and economic disaster in the post-war period. In addition, he said that the stimulus measures taken up by countries to fight the global crisis should be withdrawn only when the economic recovery has taken hold and unemployment is set to decrease. Moreover, there seems to be concern about the social and economic costs of high unemployment, which will persist even as financial markets and output stabilizes. However, it is advised that policymakers should err on the side of caution as they decide when to exit from their crisis response policies.
